Sindhuli, Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Rabindra Adhikari on Saturday stressed the need for developing tourism to prosper Nepal.
The government has a goal to develop and expand potential tourism destinations to effectively implement the campaign of ‘Happy Nepali and Prosperous Nepal’.
“This initiative will be taken in coordination with private sector,” he said while addressing the 251st Victory Day at Sindhuligadhi, a historic fort, which has recently been listed as a tourist attraction as part of the government’s plan to explore the top 100 travel destinations to boost the country’s overall tourism.
Saying Rs 5 million has been released to develop the tourist attraction, he directed the Kamalamai Municipality to repair the dilapidated Sindhuligadhi palace for which he said the government would release budget.
On the occasion, Finance Minister of Province 3 Kailash Dhungel pledged to release adequate budget for the reconstruction of the fort.
Likewise, Mayor of the Municipality Khadga Bahadur Khatri said Rs 170 million is required to reconstruct the fort.
The Victory Day is being celebrated for the past nine years to commemorate the victory over British Army in 1824 B.S.
